TOKYO — All's fair in love and secret songs, so Taylor Swift started her acoustic set with a blank space in 2024.
For night one of her Eras Tour in Tokyo on Wednesday, Swift performed "Dear Reader" from "Midnights" on the guitar and "Holy Ground" from "Red (Taylor's Version)" on the piano. The first song she's never performed live on the tour and the other she played in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on May 27.
"I decided that in 2024, when we go back on tour, I'm just gonna open back up all the songs for surprise songs,” Swift said during her final 2023 performance in Sao Paulo, Brazil. “For one year, we've really gotten through a lot of songs, so I'm just gonna make all the songs fair game when we go back on tour."
Swift will perform at the Tokyo Dome through Saturday. Her next tour dates are in Melbourne, Australia, but it's likely she will make a pit stop at the Super Bowl on Sunday to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
